Reflections on Balance

life
Finding balance is something I think about a lot. Between work, side projects, hobbies, and actually resting, it’s easy to feel pulled in too many directions.
The Myth of Perfect Balance
I’ve come to realize that “balance” isn’t a static state you achieve once and maintain forever. It’s more like riding a bike—constant small adjustments to keep moving forward without falling over.
Some weeks, work demands more attention. Other weeks, I have space to dive deep into a side project or spend extra time with friends. And that’s okay.
What Helps Me
A few things that have made a difference:
- Saying no more often - Not every opportunity is the right opportunity
- Scheduled downtime - If it’s not on the calendar, it doesn’t happen
- Accepting “good enough” - Perfectionism is the enemy of done
Still Learning
I don’t have this figured out. But I’m getting better at noticing when things feel off and making adjustments before burning out.
More thoughts on this to come, probably.
